Unit 5/6 : Like theres no tomorrow

Image
Like there's no tomorrow was created by Belgrade's young company including Justine Themen , Claire Procter and Liz Mytton. The Belgrade Youth Theatre presented "Like There's No Tomorrow" - one of the first National Theatre Connections plays to be created by young people, originally devised by Belgrade's Young Company in march 2020. The play gives voice to young people's concerns about climate change at a time when the future has never looked more uncertain. A mayor candidate is trying to gain attention from the people in the area to change the way things run and also outlines the benefits of why he should be chosen. However, Aisha protests and claims that these changes will eventually affect the whole world and mainly the poor. Like there's no tomorrow is one of the only plays rarely created by a young company to be brought up by the National Theatre Connections. It creates an exciting and memorable experience for the young people.  Rehearsal:  Our...

Unit 7 : individual monologue

The class was given an assignment to find a contemporary monologue from a play. i visited the library and found monologue books which helped me pick out the most  amusing monologue for myself  so that I could perform it. I decided to choose "Boys" by Ella Hickson. The character is around the same age as i am and he is also performing in a live concert , which in my version would be performing theatre in front of hundreds of people I was intrigued about this particular monologue because i knew the name Ella Hickson from a play that she released in 2013 called Wendy and Peter Pan. I also wanted to learn the monologue because the idea of someone being from the same city as you just inspires you to read and engage with the piece. A couple days later i managed to learn the monologue word for word and now it was just about directing my movement for when I'm on stage. i broke a couple lines down to find the different types of emotion and how the character would e...

Foolish intentions bring the worst of affections My idea of the script was to bring an every day problem which occurs around the world. My inspiration whilst researching i came across Quentin Jerome Tarantino who is known as an American filmmaker who refers to popular culture and stylized violence. He also uses a lot of profanity. So my main point of using offensive words was to almost neck for neck follow the use of profanity to describe how serious things really are.  You may have not experienced or seen a sign of bullying but did you know that most bullying is hidden away. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/919474/Bullying_in_England_2013-2018__1_.pd.pdf The Department of Education say that  60% of those who said they had been bullied had experienced some kind of physical bullying, 89% said they had suffered some kind of verbal bullying and 18% said they had suffered theft or damage to their property. The s...

Level 3 : Unit 3/4

Verbatim Theatre Verbatim theatre is  a form of documentary theatre  which is strictly based on the spoken words of real people. Context My class were given different scripts to work on in groups. My group contained 4 other people (Cairo, Beyza, Jabeen, Jessica). Research  We were focusing on the attacks on women, especially as the days were becoming darker from 4pm in the afternoon. We started our search on Google where we found that Noel Clarke’s name was involved in the topic. He was accused by 20 different females , of touching , harassing or carrying out sexual misconduct. When I found out from the Guardian.com , I was perplexed and astonished because Noel Clarke was very close to actors and the    young society. He wanted to stop bullying and make casts better by implying a better relationship between the actor and the director of the piece. I, myself watched him whilst growing up. "anonymous emails and reports of allegations via intermediaries, but...

unit 9 : Evaluation

|We studied the play "A Vampire Story".   As we didn't have that long to rehearse half of the script was cut. I took part in scene 1 as an extra and in scene 2,  I played the character of Moon. In Scene 3 and 4 I filled in as an extra.  I took part in scene 5 and 9 as Lord Ruthven.   Myself and Duana were introduced to sort out costumes for the performance. A lot of the clothing was brought by classmates from home due to the coronavirus bubble.  For the female roles skirts and leggings were worn to represent the time periods. In scene 2 myself and Duana agreed to make the males (Moon, Briggs, Franklinstein) wear shirts and ties to represent a school uniform. We made sure Moon and Briggs were disengaged from learning and to show this, they didn't have their uniform on  smartly.  Franklin was opposite and we made it clear by making his uniform very presentable. This is because franklin was separated from the other classmates because he was a ne...
